….but you have no idea…
Who remembers that slogan from MTV’s Diary? 😂 No, but really, I decided to do a post about certain assumptions/misconceptions that I’ve heard people say about me throughout the past couple of years. It’s just so crazy how others perceive you at times and hearing these were pretty amusing, to say the least.
➾ I’m spoiled: This one makes me laugh…HARD. I’m not sure how I come across this way to some people but all I know is that I’ve always worked hard for my things and there’s not a lot that was handed to me. Sure my parents did whatever they could to provide for us but we were NOWHERE near spoiled. I’ve always tried to be independent and it bothers me when people almost always assume otherS buy/give me things as if I’m not capable of doing so myself. This happened a lot when I worked in Boca (not surprised), but I always loved the satisfaction of correcting them about purchasing my purses and jewelry with my OWN money. Another instance was when I had my own apartment & lived in a wealthy part of Orlando and someone assumed “So, do your parents live with you or did they just get you the place?” HOW ABOUT NEITHER OF THOSE OPTIONS!?

➾ I’m an only child: I’m actually the middle child and though it feels that I may be the only child at times, I have an older sister and a younger brother. It’s funny because they also assume I’m the youngest.

➾ I got a boob job: THIS ONE IS MY FAVORITE… LMAO. The answer is NO! The first time I heard it, I thought that person was just being funny, but I kept hearing it throughout the years and was just recently asked two weeks ago. I guess you could say I was a late bloomer, since before moving to Orlando I was super skinny and I barely had B cups back then. I also believe it was a combination of aging and gaining weight and my pregnancy. I can say however, I’m actually really happy with how they are now because it’s perfectly proportionate to my body. LOL but honestly, even if I did, I’m not the type to hide it.

➾ I’m a total bitch: I’m really not. As cliche as it may sound, I’m either your best and most loyal friend or your worst enemy. A lot of my close friends and family know who I am and understand that side of me comes out when I’m provoked. I’m actually super caring and nice towards people unless you cross me in some way and then of course I’m going to defend myself. I mean, who wouldn’t? So, for some of you who love to spread this false perception of me, maybe you should ask if YOU did something to see that side? I’ve always been the “treat others how they treat me” type of person and if you can’t respect that, oh well..
➾ I wear hair extensions: NOPE! this is alllll mine boo boo. Since my hair is super long and straight, I totally understand the misconception but I’m happy to be blessed with this hair type (though other days I want super bouncy, curly locks).

➾ I’m cocky: *cue Cockiness by Rihanna* The people that confuse my confidence for cockiness are usually the ones that aren’t used to anyone challeging them. Just because I stand up for my beliefs doesn’t make me cocky or a bitch. In no way do I believe I am way better than anyone else so *in Gretchen Weiners’ voice* I’m sorry that you think I’m cocky but I can’t help it if I’m just comfortable with myself.

➾ I don’t love myself: WRONG~ I heard this a lot when I fell into depression after my ectopic pregnancy. “You gotta love yourself first…” I literally just LOST a baby and almost my life, I can be sad and in no way does that mean I don’t love myself and is the reason for my depression. There were other factors and honestly it was mainly because I lacked support from some people during that time. It may have came off that way but if there’s one thing I’ve learned in life is TO LOVE YOURSELF and I most definitely have always tried my best to practice that.

➾ I’m rich: I wish. Just because I’ve purchased some nice things and constantly have “treat yo self” moments does not mean I am rich. Work hard and treat yourself!
➾ I’m mixed with white: Okay, I understand I haven’t been getting some sun lately and I’m as pale as casper and occasionally talk in a what most of you say “Valley girl” voice, but no. Both of my parents are Filipino and sure we have some Spanish blood but I guess you could say I’m considered to have more of a “mestiza” look. I’ve always had this a lighter skin tone than some Filipinos I know and it was only growing up in South Florida that I developed a tan. lol I finally saw my birth certificate last month, so it’s confirmed that I’m not adopted, thank you very much 😂

➾ I’m a priss: Yes, I’ll be the first to admit that I can be a girly-girl. I love to get my nails done, into fashion, make-up and hate bugs, BUT it doesn’t mean that I won’t get dirty. Also, I have a guy mentatlity at times when it comes to certain things like my humor & most likely why I get along a little more with them.
Hope you guys enjoyed reading these assumptions and misconceptions. What’s a misconception/assumption that people have about you? Let me know in the comments below!
